Food Plant Lab Quality Control Technician (6pm to 6am)

Our client is a global leader in food manufacturing with plants across the United States and Canada. They are currently helping Kerry Foods recruit a Shift Quality Control Technician for their Plant in Blue Earth.

The hours are from 6:00pm to 6:00 am.
This position reports to the Quality Supervisor.
They are looking for a candidate with 1+ year experience working with food manufacturing/production + exposure on demands of an organization that produces food + direct quality control experience.
Background as a Quality Control tech, lab technician, QA, QC, Quality Auditor is a good fit.
Monitors food safety and enforces GMPs.

Employees are regularly scheduled to work 7 shifts out of every 14-day pay period, with three shifts in one week and 4 shifts in the other.
Job Functions:

  • Perform physical, chemical, and organeleptic evaluation using a variety of laboratory equipment.
  • Responsible for the identification and isolation of non-conforming materials as well as issuing hold orders as appropriate.
  • Monitor and enforce company and government regulations pertaining to Good Manufacturing Practices and sanitation requirements.
  • Perform and document daily GMP inspections.
  • Perform and document sensory evaluation.
  • Assist in gathering and cataloging incoming raw ingredients samples.
  • Support established pest control program.
  • Assist in compiling quality and statistical data.
  • Responsible for laboratory equipment calibrations.
  • Gather and assess quality and statistical data through multiple software applications including Syspro, Bar-coding, and LIMS database as well as Microsoft Office Suite.


  • Must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a timed basic math skills test without the aid of a calculator.
  • 1 year experience in Food QC work experience with food.
  • Must be able to tolerate the above-listed physical and environmental demands of this position with or without accommodations.
  • Must pass pre-work physical.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Related AA degree is an asset
  • Work experience in laboratory environment is an asset
  • Work experience with SQF or other formalized quality programs is an asset
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
